A Legacy of Franchise Growth, Partnership, and Innovation - Reflecting on the AKFCF Conference
Last month, we had the privilege of attending the 2025 Association of Kentucky Fried Chicken Franchisees (AKFCF) Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. As the CEO of Business Sound & Communications—a family-owned company serving the fast food and fast casual industry since 1993—the event was both professionally enriching and deeply personal.
This year’s theme, “Share Your Story,” resonated powerfully. It reminded us that behind every restaurant, every drive-thru lane, and every headset, there are people—franchise owners, team leaders, and partners—working hard, adapting, and growing. The stories shared throughout the convention underscored just how much we all learn from one another when we take the time to connect.
KFC’s Enduring Legacy
Over 70 years ago, Colonel Harland Sanders opened the very first Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise in South Salt Lake, Utah. That moment in 1952 sparked what would become one of the world’s most iconic and far-reaching restaurant brands. Today, KFC is a global force, serving customers in over 145 countries—proof of what dedication, consistency, and innovation can build.
Business Sound & Communications is honored to count a number of KFC franchise partners among our valued clients. Drive-thru restaurants have always been the heart of our business, and we understand how essential they are to delivering the fast, friendly service that defines KFC’s customer experience.
A Family Legacy of Service
Our story started in the 1990s when our founder Scott Finkle, saw an opportunity to improve the way drive-thru restaurants communicate. From those early days until now, our mission has stayed the same: deliver exceptional service and dependable technology to the people behind the counter and at the speaker box.
As a family-owned and operated business, we know what it means to build something from the ground up. The AKFCF’s “Share Your Story” theme reminded me that every franchisee in that room had overcome challenges and embraced opportunities. Our story is one of those—and it’s still unfolding.
Helping Franchisees Overcome Equipment Challenges
Franchisees today face the ongoing challenge of sourcing reliable, high-performance drive-thru communication equipment. The options are many, but not all meet the demanding standards of a fast-paced QSR environment.
That’s where we step in. As the largest woman-owned HME dealer in Texas, among other quality brands, Business Sound & Communications provides equipment that meets the rigorous demands of busy restaurant operations. Our technicians are factory-trained and bring years of experience in installation, maintenance, and support.
We’ve heard time and again how important it is to work with a partner who understands both the technical side and the day-to-day realities of running a restaurant. We offer just that—knowledgeable, timely, hands-on service from a team that truly cares.
Programming that Works for You
One of the most appreciated parts of our service is our ability to program equipment based on the unique workflow of each restaurant. From adjusting headset volumes to integrating new drive-thru lanes, our programming services save teams time, reduce errors, and create a smoother experience on both sides of the speaker.
Building Partnerships That Last
“Share Your Story” also reminded us how long-term business relationships can be the most meaningful part of what we do. At Business Sound & Communications, we don’t aim to be just another vendor—we strive to be a trusted partner. Many of our clients have been with us for years, and we’re proud to walk beside them as they expand, upgrade, and evolve.
When you know someone has your back—whether it’s a service call, a programming tweak, or a recommendation for the next upgrade—it makes all the difference. That’s the kind of support we believe in.
Looking Ahead with Confidence
This year’s AKFCF Convention wasn’t just about honoring the KFC brand—it was about honoring each other’s stories, journeys, and the shared passion that brings us all together. I left feeling more connected, inspired, and confident in the work we’re doing to support franchise owners across Texas and beyond.
To every franchisee who shared their story—thank you. And to those we serve at Business Sound & Communications, thank you for letting us be a part of yours
